About Rebecca L. Galvan, Attorney at Law


Rebecca L. Galvan was licensed to practice law in 1982 and, in 1991, was certified as a specialist in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Upon graduation from the University of Texas School of Law, she was an assistant district attorney in Bexar County, Texas. She then began private law practice upon leaving the district attorney’s office.

In addition to her law practice, Ms. Galvan has served on the State Bar District 10 Grievance Committee, The San Antonio Bar Association (SABA) District Courts and Community Relations committees, the Community Justice Program, and San Antonio Family Lawyers, where she has been a board member. She also is a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas. Other activities include serving as commissioner on the San Antonio Housing Authority where she was board vice-chair, and on the board of the Alamo Community College District where she was board secretary.

Prior to receiving her law degree she worked as medical writer for the Houston Chronicle newspaper, and as news reporter for the San Antonio Express and the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal newspapers. She also worked as a medical writer for Texas Tech University School of Medicine.

She received her juris doctor degree in 1982, and a bachelor degree in journalism from the University of Texas in 1973.
